ASPORTUGUESAS’ latest collection of flip-flops introduce new innovations

03/05/2017

ASPORTUGUESAS’ latest collection is differentiated by a new cork composite, resulting from the brand’s ongoing R&D commitment and the possibility of choosing a different colour for the flip-flop sole

The latest collection of ASPORTUGUESAS have white, black or aubergine coloured soles. The first edition of these innovative cork flip-flops was launched around one year ago by the startup Ecochic – a project that incubated and supported by Amorim Cork Ventures.

The novelty of the latest collection goes well beyond aesthetic issues, since the new models are made from a new cork composite, that offers greater elasticity and compressibility, thus delivering greater walking comfort for the customer.

ASPORTUGUESAS nonetheless maintain the essence of their DNA: the innovative use of cork as their main raw material, a unique waved and textured sole, an ergonomic strap, greater resistance in the connection between strap and sole, and greater grip on wet surfaces.

Ecochic’s founder, the entrepreneur Pedro Abrantes, reveals that: "ASPORTUGUESAS have performed extremely positively since their launch last year. The strong market response has engendered a vibrant commercial dynamic which, with support from Amorim Cork Ventures, has been accompanied by further product enhancements, leading to the launch of this new collection. We spent nine months developing a new formula for the sole, which is more competitive and will create new sensations for the consumer, providing even greater comfort."

Paulo Bessa, Managing Director of Amorim Cork Ventures, notes that: "ASPORTUGUESAS have generated considerable interest in many international markets, in particular from the Middle East, but also from the USA, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, where the brand has sold extremely well". He adds that "we’re proud to follow Pedro Abrantes' enthusiasm for the project, his concern for maximising product quality, complemented by his unflagging desire to surprise us with new trendy models that offer a relaxed look, that is so characteristic of the brand, and underpins the results recorded to date."

The new collection, which is already available on the brand’s website - www.asportuguesas.shoes - is composed of 16 models, starting at € 30.00.

ASPORTUGUESAS offer Egofriendly-Footwear. The fun and sophisticated brand is aimed at urban customers who value design and the quality of materials.

In terms of retail channels, the brand will continue to concentrate on e-commerce, complemented by sales in concept stores and multi-brand stores in Portugal and international markets.
